ABOUT US

Oakley Property in the Community

At Oakley, community is fundamental to how we operate. Across Sussex, we are not just working in the areas we serve, we are part of them. We live here, raise our families here, and build our relationships here.

That connection shapes everything we do.

Whether supporting local charities, getting involved in community events, or simply championing the people and places that make Sussex unique, we believe in playing an active role in helping our communities thrive.

From large-scale fundraising challenges to grassroots local initiatives, our involvement is driven by a simple principle: if we are part of a community, we should contribute to it.

Supporting Sussex Charities

Across Sussex and beyond, our teams regularly support charities through fundraising, events and personal challenges, helping to raise both awareness and vital funds for causes that matter.

Supporting ESTEEM Through Endurance Challenges

A significant focus of our recent fundraising has been supporting ESTEEM, a Shoreham-based charity that helps young people aged 14–26 gain confidence, develop life skills and move towards independent adulthood.

Our team has taken on a series of major endurance challenges to raise funds, including ultra-marathons and long-distance hikes. One standout effort saw David Beaken complete a 67-mile “Palace to Pier” hike from London to Brighton, raising over £2,000 to support ESTEEM’s work and help secure its future.

Colleagues Andy Hovey and David Beaken have also taken on marathon and ultra-marathon challenges, combining personal goals with a shared commitment to supporting the next generation.

Fundraising for Homelessness Support in Brighton & Hove

Our teams have also supported the Clock Tower Sanctuary, a charity providing vital support to young people experiencing homelessness in Brighton & Hove.

Through organised fundraising hikes and community events, colleagues have helped raise awareness and funds for the only drop-in service in the city dedicated to supporting homeless young people aged 16–25.

Charity Golf Days Supporting Local Sussex Causes

Throughout the year, Oakley Property takes part in a number of charity golf days, helping to raise funds for important causes across the region.

These include events supporting Grace Eyre, Blood Cancer UK and Martlets Hospice, with thousands of pounds raised to fund disability support, cancer research and hospice care services.

These events also bring together the wider property community, combining fundraising with collaboration and shared purpose.

Office Fundraising for Macmillan and Save the Children

Alongside larger events, our teams regularly organise office-based fundraising initiatives.

From Macmillan Coffee Mornings to Save the Children Christmas Jumper Day, colleagues across all offices come together to support national charities while creating a strong sense of community within the business.

International Charity Work and Community Projects

While much of our work is local, our commitment extends further afield.

Through international initiatives, including projects supporting education and community development in Malawi, Oakley Property has contributed to building facilities, funding scholarships and creating opportunities for young people in developing communities.

Our Community Commitment

Sponsoring the Battle of Lewes Festival and Local Heritage Events

We are proud supporters of the Battle of Lewes Festival, one of the town’s most significant annual events.

This historic festival brings the community together to commemorate the Battle of Lewes in 1264, with large-scale re-enactments, family-friendly activities and a vibrant local atmosphere.

Events like this celebrate the heritage, identity and community spirit that make Sussex such a special place to live.

Supporting Arts and Culture

We actively support organisations that enrich the cultural landscape of Sussex, including Shoreham’s Ropetackle Arts Centre and local film and arts festivals.

Through these partnerships, we help promote creativity, support local talent and contribute to the cultural vibrancy of the communities we serve.

Community Partnerships with Local Property and Business Networks

Our involvement extends to professional and community organisations such as the Brighton & Hove Estate Agents Association, where several of our directors have held leadership positions.

We are also proud founding partners of the Brighton & Hove Property Consortium, supporting events that raise funds for local mayoral charities while bringing together businesses across the region.

Supporting Community Events Across Lewes, Brighton and Shoreham

From large annual events like Ouseday in Lewes to smaller grassroots initiatives, our teams are actively involved across the communities we serve.

These events provide opportunities to connect with local people, support good causes and contribute to the vibrant community life that defines Sussex.

Our Work in Action

From fundraising challenges to local events, our teams are actively involved in supporting the communities we are part of.
